Original job description

We are seeking a Data Architect (Master Data Management) to support a large-scale ERP and enterprise data transformation program. The successful candidate will provide architecture and strategic leadership around Master Data Management, helping establish the data structures, governance, standards, and data quality practices required to support the transformation.

This is a hands-on architecture role requiring someone who can work across business, data, ERP, and technology teams and provide immediate senior-level MDM expertise.

Location: some hybrid in Toronto office

Duration: 6 months to start

Key Responsibilities

Define the Master Data Management architecture and strategy supporting the ERP transformation.
Establish target-state models and standards for key master data domains such as Customer, Vendor/Supplier, Product/Material, Finance and organizational data.
Assess current-state master data, identify gaps, duplication and quality issues, and define remediation approaches.
Lead data cleansing, standardization, deduplication, enrichment and data hygiene initiatives.
Define data governance processes, including ownership, stewardship, validation rules and data-quality controls.
Develop approaches for master data migration and integration between legacy platforms and the target ERP environment.
Partner with ERP/SAP, integration, data, analytics and business teams to ensure consistent enterprise data.
Define data quality metrics, controls and monitoring processes.
Provide architecture guidance for MDM technologies, data models, integration patterns and governance frameworks.
Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve data profiling, classification, matching, cleansing and ongoing data quality.
Produce architecture documentation, standards, roadmaps and recommendations for program leadership.

Required Experience

10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, MDM, data management or related disciplines.
Strong experience designing and implementing Master Data Management solutions within complex enterprise environments.
Experience supporting major ERP transformation or modernization programs.
Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data cleansing/hygiene, metadata and data stewardship.
Experience defining enterprise/master data models and integration patterns.
Strong understanding of data migration, profiling, mapping, validation and reconciliation.
Ability to work with senior business and technology stakeholders and translate business requirements into practical data architecture.
Experience working across multiple master-data domains such as customer, supplier/vendor, product/material and finance.

Preferred Experience

Strong experience with SAP environments and SAP transformation programs, including SAP S/4HANA.
Experience with SAP master-data capabilities such as SAP MDG (Master Data Governance).
Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms and enterprise integration technologies.
Experience applying AI/ML or GenAI techniques to data quality, matching, classification, enrichment or governance.
Experience establishing MDM and data governance capabilities as part of a broader enterprise transformation.
