Driver Requirements
Technicians drive RestoTech vehicles, so you must qualify under our commercial automobile insurance policy. These requirements are set by our insurer, not by us. If you do not meet them, we cannot put you on the policy, no matter how good the rest of your application is.
Please read this section before you apply. It is the most common reason an application does not go forward.
To qualify you need:
- A valid full Class 5 driver licence. Graduated and probationary licences do not qualify.
- At least three years of clean, continuous, and recent insurance history.
- No at fault claims in the last five years.
- A five year driving abstract showing:
- No major convictions in the last three years.
- No more than three minor convictions in the last three years.
- No criminal convictions in the last three years.
These requirements come from our insurer and can change. What counts as a major or a minor conviction is interpreted differently between provinces and municipalities, so the final decision rests with the insurer.
