We are seeking an Accounts Payable Technician to manage the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions across multiple entities. The role is responsible for the end-to-end payment cycle, including invoice validation, payment processing, journal entries, bank reconciliation, insurer remittances, commission calculations and payments, vendor master data, and related controls.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, service-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This role also contributes to process improvements, system initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and other ad hoc finance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt to payment and reconciliation for operations, insurer and commissions payments.
Ensure invoices are properly approved and comply with internal controls and delegation authorities.
Process vendor payments accurately and on time.
Prepare and post payment-related journal entries.
Monitor AP aging and resolve payment discrepancies, vendor inquiries, and outstanding items.
Manage stale-dated cheques, rejected payments, and other payment exceptions.
Reconcile vendor and insurer statements.
Support month-end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
Maintain vendor records, payment instructions, and banking information within company systems. Verify vendor banking changes in accordance with established procedures.
Ensure transactions are properly documented, supported, and retained.
Prepare payments in the banking platform and ensure payment batches agree to the approved payment listing and supporting documentation.
Support bank reconciliations and investigate and clear outstanding reconciling items promptly.
Support external audits by preparing schedules, retrieving support, and responding to audit requests in a timely manner.
Participate in process improvement, automation, and finance transformation initiatives.
Assist with acquisitions, integrations, and onboarding of new entities into the standardized AP process.
Maintain and update procedures and process documentation.
Provide support on ad hoc accounting, treasury, and finance projects.

Qualifications

College diploma (DEC) in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3-5 years of accounts payable or accounting experience.
Solid understanding of the end-to-end accounts payable cycle, journal entries, reconciliations, cut-off, and internal controls.
Experience with ERP systems and electronic banking platforms; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or a similar system is an asset.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets and transaction volumes.
Bilingual in French and English; to support colleagues inside Quebec and for the rest of Canada.

Principales responsabilités

Gérer l’ensemble du cycle des comptes fournisseurs, de la réception des factures jusqu’au paiement et au rapprochement, incluant les opérations, les paiements aux assureurs et les commissions.
S’assurer que les factures sont dûment approuvées et conformes aux contrôles internes et aux niveaux d’autorisation établis.
Effectuer les paiements aux fournisseurs avec exactitude et dans les délais prescrits.
Préparer et comptabiliser les écritures de journal liées aux paiements.
Surveiller l’ancienneté des comptes fournisseurs et résoudre les écarts de paiement, les demandes des fournisseurs et les éléments en suspens.
Gérer les chèques périmés, les paiements rejetés et autres exceptions de paiement.
Effectuer le rapprochement des relevés des fournisseurs et des assureurs.
Participer aux activités de clôture mensuelle, y compris les provisions et les rapprochements.
Maintenir à jour les dossiers fournisseurs, les instructions de paiement et les informations bancaires dans les systèmes de l’entreprise. Vérifier les changements bancaires des fournisseurs conformément aux procédures établies.
Veiller à ce que les transactions soient correctement documentées, appuyées et archivées.
Préparer les paiements dans la plateforme bancaire et s’assurer que les lots de paiements concordent avec les listes approuvées et la documentation justificative.
Participer aux rapprochements bancaires et enquêter rapidement sur les écarts afin de les résoudre.
Soutenir les audits externes en préparant les analyses, en rassemblant la documentation requise et en répondant aux demandes d’audit dans les délais prévus.
Participer aux initiatives d’amélioration des processus, d’automatisation et de transformation financière.

Qualifications

Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) en comptabilité, en finance, en administration des affaires ou dans un domaine connexe, ou expérience pratique équivalente.
De 3 à 5 années d’expérience en comptes fournisseurs ou en comptabilité.
Bonne compréhension du cycle complet des comptes fournisseurs, des écritures comptables, des rapprochements, de la comptabilisation des périodes et des contrôles internes.
Expérience avec des systèmes ERP et des plateformes bancaires électroniques; une expérience avec Microsoft Dynamics GP ou un système similaire constitue un atout.
Excellentes compétences avec Microsoft Excel et aisance à travailler avec d’importants volumes de données et de transactions.
Bilinguisme (français et anglais) pour soutenir les collègues au Québec et dans le reste du Canada.
