Original job description

Role Overview

The VP, Business Development generates new business for ReVisionz with owner-operators across North America, opening new accounts and winning new work with existing clients across the full portfolio of digital asset enablement solutions: systems integration, data and AI solutions, consulting and managed services, with a focus on enterprise programs and long-term strategic relationships. Prospecting and building a qualified pipeline is the role’s first priority.

The VP, Business Development operates as a senior individual contributor who spends much of their time in the field, meeting prospects and clients face to face. The role has no direct reports, but there is substantial opportunity for advancement, and the incumbent is well supported by a strong sales function (including a robust marketing arm), peers, delivery leads and management. Success is measured by new relationships opened with executive decision-makers, qualified pipeline built and new business won across the full ReVisionz portfolio.

Core Responsibilities

Prospecting & Pipeline Generation: Build and sustain a qualified pipeline through consistent outbound activity (calls, meetings, LinkedIn and email outreach), with steady quarter-over-quarter growth in new client meetings and qualified opportunities that supports revenue targets.
Industry Insight: Gather first-hand intelligence on what is happening across target industries and client operations, and tailor each conversation to it rather than relying on a canned pitch.
Target Account Mapping: Identify target owner-operators and map their stakeholders, initiatives and buying triggers to focus outreach where ReVisionz can win.
Existing Client Opportunities: Identify and win new work with existing ReVisionz clients by introducing solutions they do not yet use.
Opportunity Qualification: Qualify opportunities early on fit, budget, timing and decision process, and keep lead and deal records accurate and current in the CRM.
Discovery & Business Cases: Lead discovery conversations that uncover each client’s business problems and corporate initiatives, and build executive-level business cases tied to corporate strategy that create demand for ReVisionz solutions.
Solution Shaping: Shape tailored offerings such as assessments, roadmaps, software implementations and managed services in collaboration with ReVisionz practice leads.
Proposals & Closure: Lead enterprise pursuits, proposals and RFP responses through to signed statements of work and master services agreements.
Market Presence: Raise ReVisionz’s profile as a recognized voice in target industries through speaking engagements, executive forums and association leadership, and generate warm introductions through technology partners, alumni and existing clients.
Market Strategy Input: Share industry insight with management to shape go-to-market priorities and target industries.
Marketing Collaboration: Partner with marketing on client case studies, project summaries and targeted campaigns that support pipeline growth.
Sales-to-Delivery Handoff: Ensure a clean handoff to delivery, aligning client expectations, scope, commitments and key relationships with the delivery team.

Capabilities & Competencies

Opens doors quickly with C-level executives across operations, engineering, capital projects and IT who set strategy and approve major investments, earning credibility in early conversations and sustaining relationships between opportunities.
Sells consultatively, framing value around business outcomes and positioning ReVisionz as a trusted, software-agnostic advisor and systems integrator.
Navigates complex enterprise buying organizations, including executive committees, maintaining momentum across 6–18 month sales cycles.
Negotiates pricing, scope and commercial terms for time-and-materials and fixed-fee services work, supported by sales leadership and corporate administration, while protecting both margin and the client relationship.
Learns new solutions rapidly and connects them to each client’s priorities in clear, executive-level language, from a first conversation to a formal presentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
15+ years in business development, sales, consulting or senior operations, engineering or capital project roles where success depended on building client relationships and advancing high-value solutions.
An established network at owner-operators in industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, mining, power generation, food & beverage, manufacturing or industrial construction, including contacts who set strategy and approve major investments, such as C-level executives.
A record of opening new accounts and securing enterprise programs and multi-year client relationships.
Familiarity with industry priorities such as digital transformation, operational excellence, capital project execution, engineering and asset information, intelligent asset management, and data and AI.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM tools and commercial AI tools.

What You Bring

A genuine love of meeting people and getting to know them, with the drive to keep the funnel full.
Persistence through long sales cycles, paired with the judgment to know when to walk away.
An entrepreneurial ownership mindset that treats the growth of ReVisionz as a personal commitment.

Agency / Search Firm Notice:

For 25 years, ReVisionz has helped owner-operators across energy, chemicals, mining and manufacturing get more value from their asset and engineering information. Our culture is built on people: we treat our employees and contractors with respect and loyalty and value them as experts in their disciplines. Join a rapidly growing organization with a proven track record of delivery success and long-term relationships with leading North American energy and industrial companies. You’ll work alongside a dynamic group of leaders, managers and practice area leads, gain immediate credibility by bringing some of the most talented domain and industry experts in the market to the table, sell high-demand, high-value digital asset enablement solutions and contribute directly to the direction and growth of the company. ReVisionz is a Great Place to Work® Certified™ organization (2024/2025). Check us out on www.revisionz.com.
