Job Description
RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summaryAccess ALS, led by internationally recognized clinician-researcher Dr. Angela Genge at McGill University, is Canada’s first national clinical trial network dedicated to phase 1 trials in ALS. This patient-focused initiative establishes a coordinated, Phase 1–ready infrastructure across 13 sites in eight provinces, designed to accelerate early-phase trials, standardize operations, and improve patient access. By partnering with the Canadian ALS (CALS) Clinic Network and leveraging Health Canada’s regulatory flexibility, Access ALS positions Canada as a global leader in ALS drug development.
With Dr. Genge’s decades experience in early phase clinical trial leadership and in partnership with the CIM’s Phase 1 unit - this initiative will close critical gaps in site capabilities, optimize recruitment, and attract high-value industry-sponsored trials across the country. The coordinating center for ACCESS ALS will reside at McGill University Health Center Research Institute under the leadership of Dr Angela Genge. The center oversees and supports ALS clinical trial sites at clinical academic institutions across Canada interested in building out significant phase 1 capabilities. Internally the center collaborates closely with the Center for Innovative Medicine (CIM) Phase 1 unit. Reporting directly to Dr Genge and following established institutional policies and governmental guidelines and regulations, the incumbent is responsible for implementing the network components of Access ALS and building relationships across the CALS network of sites, the site level partners of Access ALS across Canada. The role is for a Network Coordinator to support the sites both at the ALS Phase 1 group of the CIM of the MUHC RI and the ACCESS ALS clinical trial sites across the country. Cooperation with the Capture ALS, CALS, and others are a key component of the network aspects of the position.
