Finding better ways™ to provide the materials the world needs.

About the role

We are looking for Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians to help the Mobile Maintenance team deliver safe, reliable mobile equipment performance at the Labrador City mine. In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair and document work on a diverse heavy equipment fleet, helping maintain equipment availability in a safety-critical industrial environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and wants to grow their technical capability while contributing to a team that looks out for one another.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work as part of a safety-focused maintenance team supporting the Labrador City operation.

In Labrador City, you’ll find a close‑knit northern community where quality of life and genuine connection come naturally.

Enjoy the outdoors year-round; camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and boating throughout the summer and fall seasons. Winter thrills include groomed snowmobile trails, snowshoeing trails, alpine and cross-country skiing, including night skiing, often beneath the Northern Lights.

What you’ll be doing

  • Perform heavy equipment inspections, diagnostics and repairs within planned time frames without compromising equipment integrity.
  • Apply Rio Tinto safety standards and environmental requirements, actively contributing to a zero-harm culture.
  • Participate constructively in safety meetings, field-level risk discussions and incident investigations to improve safe work practices.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and promptly address hazards that could affect people, equipment or the environment.
  • Record clear details of inspections, faults and completed repairs so equipment history and follow-up work are understood.
  • Prepare accurate written and electronic maintenance reports for leaders and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the development of Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprentices by sharing practical knowledge and safe work practices.

About you
