YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a Winter 2027 intern for the role of GenAI Model Validation Intern at our partner organization, a leading Canadian-based financial services firm, in their Model Validation and Analytics Unit. You will be interning at a leading Canadian-based financial services company with a long history of helping clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

This internship offers a balance of hands-on GenAI validation experience and project and process work. You will work alongside experienced validators on live GenAI validations, help test and improve the Validation Workbench, and help make sure the validation framework is clearly and correctly reflected in day-to-day practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

GenAI Model Validation: Support validation of GenAI models and use cases, including reviewing documentation and
evidence, performing testing, documenting results, and supporting findings and conclusions.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Test the Validation Workbench end-to-end, document issues and usability gaps, and support
improvements to the validation workflow.
Project Management, Requirements & Process Review: Review BRDs, validation requirements, and process documentation to identify gaps, unclear requirements, and areas needing clarification.
Validation Framework Testing: Help confirm that validation obligations, risk-level requirements, and applicable rules are appropriately reflected in the process and Workbench.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Develop and maintain test cases, process documentation, and validation guidance while identifying opportunities to make the process more efficient and user-friendly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a graduate-level student from the following universities: University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, York University or Western University.
Currently pursuing a Master's or a higher degree in a relevant field, such as Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or Business Analytics.
Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Interest in generative AI, large language models (LLMs), AI model evaluation, and responsible AI practices.
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to document technical findings and explain complex information clearly.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Curious and questioning: comfortable asking “why” and challenging assumptions respectfully.
Organized: able to manage several tasks, track open items and meet deadlines.
User-focused: notices when a process or tool is confusing and suggests practical fixes.
Collaborative: works well with validators, model owners and project teams.

NICE TO HAVE

Exposure to Python, SQL or another scripting language
Experience with software testing, quality assurance or user acceptance testing
Familiarity with model risk management, risk and controls, or regulatory concepts
Experience reviewing business requirements or process documentation
