Company Description Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre (RIWC) is a community-based registered charity, founded in 1982, dedicated to empowering racialized, immigrant, and refugee women and their families. RIWC delivers holistic, integrated services that address social, cultural, and economic factors affecting newcomer communities, including settlement, anti-violence, and employment support programs. The organization offers specialized programs such as Violence Against Women and Children, youth anti-violence initiatives, employment pathways, and training in food service, hospitality, and digital literacy for seniors. RIWC primarily supports vulnerable racialized and newcomer women in Toronto who face multiple barriers, including settlement challenges, low literacy and language skills, and limited Canadian work experience. All programs are delivered using an anti-oppression and GBA+ framework, in collaboration with a wide network of community partners, schools, private sector organizations, and government bodies to promote gender equity and inclusion.

Role Description The Security Guard is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for clients, staff, and visitors at RIWC facilities. The Security Guard will monitor premises through regular patrols, manage access to the building, and ensure that security procedures are followed in alignment with RIWC’s anti-oppression values. Day-to-day tasks include greeting and directing visitors, verifying identification where required, responding to incidents or emergencies, and documenting security-related events. The role involves working closely with staff to support program delivery, de-escalating conflicts when possible, and liaising with emergency services or external security as needed. The Security Guard will also assist with basic safety checks, such as ensuring exits are clear, equipment is functioning, and health and safety guidelines are observed.
