Fund Services / Fund Accounting Role
Summary
Our client is seeking a Fund Services professional to support the AVP, Fund Services across fund accounting, financial reporting, distributions, tax, audit, regulatory requirements, and ongoing oversight of outsourced fund administration.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with hands-on experience within the Canadian investment fund industry, particularly someone who understands mutual funds, fund accounting, NAV oversight, financial reporting, and working closely with external fund administrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting, custody, tax, and financial reporting activities performed by an external fund administrator
- Review monthly and annual fund and unit trust distributions
- Support semi-annual and annual IFRS financial statement preparation, including portfolio risk calculations, analysis, and commentary
- Participate in regular oversight and due diligence meetings with the fund administrator
- Complete reporting, reconciliations, and ad hoc analysis as required
- Manage regulatory documentation and administrative requirements related to fund operations
- Prepare and review Management Expense Ratio (MER) calculations, including fund expense allocations
- Support annual fund audits
- Monitor fund valuations and fair value processes to ensure NAV accuracy
- Prepare internal reporting and materials for oversight committees
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and other ad hoc projects
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
- 2+ years of progressive experience within the Canadian investment fund or mutual fund industry
- Strong understanding of Canadian investment funds and mutual fund operations
- Experience with fund accounting, financial reporting, NAV oversight, distributions, and fund expenses
- Experience working with or overseeing an external fund administrator
- CPA designation or progress toward a professional designation is an asset
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills
- Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to process improvement
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally
