Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, in the Vaughan area is seeking an experienced Buyer with a strong background in manufacturing procurement and supply chain operations. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and services that support uninterrupted production and operational performance.
This position is ideal for a procurement professional who understands the complexities of a manufacturing environment, including production schedules, supplier performance, inventory management, and sourcing industrial components. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving cost savings, supplier excellence, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support manufacturing operations and company objectives.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers for raw materials, components, and production-related services.
- Lead RFQ and tendering processes, evaluate vendor proposals, and negotiate contracts.
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are consistently met.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Finance teams to support operational requirements.
- Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
- Analyze purchasing data, spend trends, and supplier metrics using ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Support supplier qualification, audit activities, and risk mitigation initiatives.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience sourcing mechanical, electrical, industrial, or production-related components.
- Proven success managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and driving cost savings.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chains, production planning, and inventory management.
