Our client, a growing financial services organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, and financial compliance functions.
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Accounting, the Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting strategic decision-making, and overseeing key audit, lender, regulatory, and stakeholder reporting requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership role with broad exposure across the organization and an opportunity to play an important part in supporting continued growth, strengthening financial processes, and developing the finance team.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead accounting operations, including month-end close, general ledger, accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Prepare management reporting and financial analysis for senior leadership and the Board.
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, corporate filing, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity forecasting, banking relationships, borrowing facilities, and lender covenant compliance.
- Support financing activities, credit facility renewals, and lender and investor reporting.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead the annual external audit and act as a key contact for auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other external stakeholders.
- Maintain strong internal controls, financial governance, and risk management processes.
- Drive process improvements, automation, systems enhancements, and other finance transformation initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting and finance team, establishing clear priorities and performance expectations.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-improvement-focused finance culture.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
- CPA designation.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with IFRS.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and financial governance.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience within financial services, lending, mortgage investment, asset management, private credit, or another regulated financial environment would be considered an asset.
