This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and hands-on finance leader who brings a strong public practice foundation, industry experience, and a proven ability to oversee accounting and financial reporting for a multi-entity organization. Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the organization’s financial reporting while driving process improvements, efficiencies, and the continued evolution of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting function, ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
Own the consolidation and preparation of monthly financial statements for a group of companies in accordance with ASPE.
Provide financial insights and analysis to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Oversee account reconciliations, working papers, financial controls, and the overall integrity of the general ledger.
Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning in collaboration with senior leadership.
Coordinate and manage the external audit process, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables and maintaining strong relationships with external auditors.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and overall efficiency across the finance function.
Champion the use of AI, automation, and technology to streamline reporting, enhance data analysis, and improve finance processes.
Partner with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to provide financial guidance and support organizational initiatives.
Manage ad hoc financial projects and initiatives, taking a proactive approach to emerging business needs.
Support the continued development and maturity of the finance function as the organization grows.

Ideal Background

CPA designation with a strong foundation in public practice, ideally complemented by 1–3+ years of progressive industry experience within management.
Experience overseeing accounting and/or financial reporting for a multi-entity organization, including consolidated financial statements.
Strong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian accounting standards.
Proven experience managing, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.
Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements and reporting efficiencies.
Experience working with external auditors and coordinating annual financial audits.
Exposure to AI tools, automation, and finance technology is considered an asset.
Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
A hands-on, collaborative leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.

Why Apply?

Join a well-established and growing organization in the heart of Downtown Vancouver.
Enjoy a hybrid work environment that offers flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration.
Take ownership of the accounting and reporting function and have a meaningful impact on the organization’s continued growth.
Help shape process improvement, automation, and digital transformation within the finance function.
Work closely with senior leadership as a trusted financial partner.
Lead and develop a collaborative accounting team while having opportunities for continued professional growth.
Be part of an organization that values innovation, continuous improvement, and forward-thinking finance practices.
