Original job description

Our client, a rapidly growing publicly traded biopharmaceutical company based in Montreal, is seeking a Corporate Controller to join its leadership team. The successful candidate will oversee consolidated financial reporting, IFRS compliance, and MD&A preparation, while managing controllers across multiple business units. This individual will play a key role in modernizing the finance function through the standardization and automation of processes.

Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Oversee quarterly and annual external reporting requirements for a publicly traded organization, including MD&A preparation and supporting disclosure documentation.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, regulatory requirements, and internal financial controls.
Manage and mentor Controllers across multiple business units, fostering collaboration and accountability.
Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across the organization.
Partner with external auditors and support audit and regulatory review processes.
Drive the standardization, optimization, and automation of financial reporting and accounting processes.
Support integration efforts related to acquisitions and corporate growth initiatives.
Provide financial analysis and strategic insights to executive leadership to support business decision-making.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operational and executive teams to improve financial performance and reporting accuracy.
Contribute to the development of scalable finance processes and systems to support future growth.

Qualifications

CPA designation required.
7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
Extensive experience with consolidated financial reporting and IFRS.
Experience preparing MD&A and public company reporting requirements.
Proven leadership experience managing finance and accounting teams.
Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, and financial governance.
Experience in a growth-by-acquisition environment is highly desirable.
Prior exposure to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or publicly traded sector is considered an asset.
Demonstrated experience leading process improvement, standardization, and finance automation initiatives.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
