The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading large, geographically dispersed teams of 25+ employees, driving finance transformation, and strengthening financial controls, processes, and governance.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, including IFRS, alongside the ability to lead through other leaders while remaining hands-on in identifying issues, improving processes, and implementing sustainable change.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead the finance and accounting function across a complex, multi-entity North American organization.
  • Oversee financial reporting, consolidations, month-end close, statutory reporting, and external audits in accordance with IFRS.
  • Establish consistent accounting policies, reporting standards, and financial governance across the organization.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight and support strategic decision-making.

Finance Transformation & Process Improvement

  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to standardize, streamline, and modernize finance processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Assess existing processes, organizational structures, and controls, identifying gaps and implementing practical, scalable improvements.
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and risk management practices across entities and business units.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach to problem-solving, working directly with teams to improve operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and effective change management while maintaining business continuity.

Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a large, geographically dispersed finance organization, including developing managers and strengthening leadership capability.
  • Establish clear accountability, performance expectations, and organizational structures that support business objectives.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, IT, and other functional leaders to improve financial visibility, costing accuracy, inventory controls, and working capital.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating financial and operational performance into actionable business insights.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation required.
  • 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including senior leadership at the Corporate Controller, VP Finance, or equivalent level.
  • Demonstrated success leading large accounting and finance teams across multiple locations and geographies, with experience developing leaders and managing through others.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, including extensive IFRS experience and multi-entity financial consolidation.
  • Proven experience leading finance transformation, process standardization, and internal control improvements across a complex organization.
  • Experience assessing organizational structures, developing talent, and leading teams through significant change.
  • Strong executive presence, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders across finance and operations.
