They are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Superintendent to join their Quesnel, BC operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineering professional who enjoys working in a complex industrial environment and wants to take ownership of capital planning, engineering projects, maintenance initiatives, and team leadership.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This role offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on the ongoing performance and future development of a large industrial facility. You will work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic plans for capital, infrastructure, and major expense projects.
Lead, mentor, and manage the performance of the engineering team.
Provide technical guidance and direction to project and maintenance engineers and technologists throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee projects from initial planning through completion, ensuring they remain on schedule and within budget.
Establish clear expectations for contractors related to safety, cost, quality, and performance.
Lead capital project and major maintenance planning and coordination.
Develop and maintain the site’s 5-year and 10-year capital and major maintenance plans.
Provide direction regarding the site’s approach to fixed asset inspection and maintenance.
Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and other external stakeholders.
Support initiatives focused on safety, productivity, environmental performance, quality, and cost improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, asset reliability, and overall site performance.
WHAT YOU BRING
Our client is looking for an experienced engineering leader who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead people, projects, and external partners.
You will ideally bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
5+ years of progressive engineering experience, ideally with increasing leadership responsibility.
Experience working within heavy industrial environments; pulp mill experience is considered an asset.
Knowledge or experience with pressure vessels and/or steam systems is an asset.
Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple levels of an organization.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Experience managing contractors and working with external engineering partners.
A valid driver’s license.
