We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance, a leader to oversee the financial direction of our clients' organization in Perth County, Ontario. This role provides strategic guidance across planning, reporting, controls, and performance management while supporting sound business decisions with accurate financial insight. The successful candidate will strengthen finance operations, lead a capable team through the Financial Controller, and help drive sustainable growth through disciplined forecasting, analysis, and risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership for the finance function by defining roles, expectations, decision authorities, and service standards across accounting and financial management activities.
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial analysis processes, ensuring leaders have clear insight into performance, risks, and recommended actions.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, month-end close expectations, and review practices that support accuracy, compliance, and consistency.
- Evaluate the financial impact of commercial proposals by assessing profitability, cash implications, investment needs, and business risk before commitments are approved.
- Work with cross-functional leaders to obtain complete operating and financial inputs, question unsupported assumptions, and resolve issues that affect financial results or planning quality.
- Lead and develop the Financial Controller and other finance team members while supporting succession planning, capability building, and effective use of approved resources.
- Prepare and present performance reviews that explain variances, identify trends, and assign accountability for corrective measures and follow-up actions.
- Monitor liquidity, significant financial risks, policy exceptions, and major commitments, and escalate material matters with clear analysis, options, and recommendations.
- Maintain scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making related to growth, cost pressures, break-even performance, and funding requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or related financial leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of accounting functions, financial controls, and management reporting in a business environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading budget development, rolling forecasts, and broader financial planning activities.
- Proven ability to deliver decision support through financial analysis, performance insights, and business partnering.
- Solid understanding of cash management, liquidity oversight, and corporate treasury principles.
- Experience leading finance teams and developing staff through clear accountability, coaching, and performance management.
- Ability to assess financial implications of business decisions, challenge assumptions, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.
