Original job description

This is a contract position with potential to go long term. We are seeking a hands-on FP&A Manager to support the development and improvement of financial reporting, forecasting, and modelling processes. This role will sit at the intersection of Finance and Technology, with a focus on rebuilding existing reporting structures, developing driver-based financial models, and improving data accuracy and automation.

The successful candidate will have a strong finance and operational accounting background, advanced Excel modelling capabilities, and the ability to independently assess, develop, and maintain financial reporting tools. Experience with Dynamics AX and working with complex financial data is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Modelling & Forecasting: Develop and maintain driver-based forecasts and P&L models that connect operational assumptions to financial performance.
Costing & Financial Analysis: Build and enhance models incorporating labour costs, margins, overhead absorption, and changes in operational activity.
Reporting Improvements: Assess existing financial reports and Excel templates, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and rebuild or streamline reporting processes as required.
Systems & Data Management: Understand data flows across financial systems, validate data integrity, and improve reporting connections, automation, and refresh processes.
Management Reporting: Prepare recurring financial reports, conduct variance analysis, and provide meaningful insights to support management decision-making.
Process Automation: Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency through Excel macros, VBA, SQL, and other automation or reporting tools.
Ongoing Reporting Ownership: Independently maintain financial models, oversee recurring reporting deliverables, and respond to ad hoc management reporting requests.

Qualifications & Experience

8–10+ years of experience in Finance, FP&A, financial analysis, or operational finance roles.
Strong understanding of financial statements, P&L reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated experience building complex financial models from scratch.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems.
Knowledge of operational costing, labour analysis, margins, and overhead absorption.
Experience improving financial reporting processes, consolidating data, and working with multiple reporting sources.
Exposure to VBA/macros, SQL, Power BI, or other reporting and automation tools is an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
