Original job description

We are looking for a Junior QA Automation Engineer to join a technology team in North York, Ontario. This opportunity is ideal for an early-career quality assurance professional who is passionate about software testing, automation, and delivering high-quality digital experiences. The successful candidate will contribute to both manual and automated testing efforts while collaborating closely with developers, product managers, and senior QA team members in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain automated test scripts for web, API, and mobile applications using modern testing frameworks and tools.
Support all phases of the software testing lifecycle, including test planning, test case creation, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
Perform manual, regression, smoke, and functional testing to ensure application quality and stability.
Collaborate with developers, project managers, product managers, and QA team members to identify and resolve issues early in the development process.
Document test cases, test results, defects, and lessons learned to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Assist with API and mobile application testing initiatives where required.
Contribute to ongoing improvements in QA processes, automation frameworks, and testing best practices.
Analyze test results and provide clear feedback to stakeholders regarding product quality and release readiness.

Requirements

1+ years of QA or software testing experience, including professional, internship, or significant project-based experience.
Familiarity with automation testing tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, WebDriverIO, or similar frameworks.
Experience or working knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java for test automation purposes.
Understanding of software testing principles, testing methodologies, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience creating and executing test cases for web, API, and/or mobile applications.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
