Location: Greater Toronto Area (Pearson Airport Area)

Work Model: Hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 days remote)

Duration: Contract (immediate start with an option to extend beyond 6 mon)

Pay: 40-47/h T4

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across both Canadian and U.S. employee populations. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong Dayforce experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing day-to-day payroll processing with continuous improvement and project-based initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Process end-to-end payroll for Canadian and U.S. employees using Ceridian Dayforce.
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with applicable federal, provincial, state, and company regulations.
Administer payroll activities for both unionized and non-unionized employee groups.
Validate payroll data including earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, time and attendance, and retroactive adjustments.
Respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries while delivering a high level of customer service.
Partner with HR, Finance, and business stakeholders to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.
Support payroll reconciliations, audits, year-end activities, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Contribute to payroll-related projects, process improvements, system enhancements, testing, and implementation initiatives.
Assist with documentation, workflow optimization, and the development of payroll best practices.

Qualifications

3+ years of payroll experience processing payroll for both Canadian and U.S. employees.
Hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce is required.
Experience working within a unionized environment.
Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and payroll compliance requirements.
Familiarity with U.S. payroll processes, tax regulations, and multi-jurisdictional payroll is considered a strong asset.
Experience supporting payroll projects, system implementations, upgrades, or process improvement initiatives.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
PCP designation or equivalent payroll certification is considered an asset.

Preferred Experience

Exposure to large, complex organizational environments.
Experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audits.
Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and support special payroll initiatives as required.
