Our client, a large and complex organization, is seeking a Payroll Systems Implementation Consultant to support a payroll transformation and optimization initiative. This individual will work closely with payroll, HR, finance, IT, and project stakeholders to help drive the successful implementation, enhancement, and integration of payroll systems and processes.
This role requires a consultant who combines strong payroll operations knowledge with hands-on experience supporting payroll system implementations, testing, data validation, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support payroll system implementation and transformation projects through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather, validate, and document business requirements.
- Analyze current payroll processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and accuracy.
- Participate in system configuration reviews, testing strategies, user acceptance testing (UAT), and issue resolution.
- Support payroll data validation, migration, reconciliation, and reporting activities.
- Work closely with vendors, project teams, payroll leaders, HR, and IT teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Assist with change management, training materials, end-user support, and process documentation.
- Identify risks, troubleshoot system issues, and recommend practical solutions.
- Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with applicable legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience supporting payroll system implementations, upgrades, or payroll transformation projects.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll processes, legislation, and payroll best practices.
- Experience working with one or more of the following platforms:
- SAP Payroll / SAP HCM
- Workday Payroll
- Ceridian Dayforce
- Oracle HCM / Oracle Payroll
- Experience with payroll testing, data conversion, reconciliation, integrations, and UAT activities.
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional system solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in large, complex organizations with high employee volumes.
- Exposure to unionized payroll environments and collective agreement interpretation.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, and external implementation partners.
- PCP certification is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide HRIS or payroll transformation initiatives.
