Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Kitchener, Ontario. In this role, you will support accurate financial reporting, strengthen the reliability of accounting records, and contribute to a disciplined close process across the organization. This position also plays an important part in consolidations, intercompany reconciliations, audit support, and financial analysis that helps leaders make informed business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, and completing reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Compile supporting schedules for external audit requests and assist in producing quarterly consolidated financial statements within required timelines.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process and provide variance analysis to help management understand financial performance against plan.
- Responsible for revenue recognition and revenue cut-off for long-term contracts including the amortization of deferred revenue
- Apply accounting standards and internal policies consistently to support compliance, financial accuracy, and strong internal controls.
- Prepare timely ad hoc financial reports and analysis to meet operational and leadership needs.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior accountant or similar finance role.
- CPA designation required.
- Demonstrated strength in account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger activities, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
- Proven ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and follow through on resolutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices in a multi-entity and multi-currency environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
