Original job description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their team in a fully on-site role. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.

The successful candidate will oversee general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations, and financial reporting while helping strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, inventory-driven environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate and reliable financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Close

Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Prepare financial statements, management reporting, and supporting analyses
Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
Support the development and enhancement of accounting policies and internal controls

Financing & Inventory Accounting

Record and reconcile inventory financing transactions
Monitor financing balances and prepare supporting reporting for management
Maintain accurate accounting records related to inventory and financing activities

Reconciliations & General Accounting

Perform reconciliations of key general ledger accounts
Complete cash and bank reconciliations
Ensure sub-ledgers remain balanced with the general ledger
Investigate and resolve variances on a timely basis

Accounts Receivable

Manage customer and internal receivables
Support collection activities and account monitoring
Review transactions and ensure compliance with company policies

Vendor & Operational Accounting Support

Assist with vendor-related reconciliations and claims processes
Maintain inventory costing records and supporting schedules
Support accounting requirements across multiple departments

Additional Responsibilities

Maintain fixed asset schedules
Assist with ERP/accounting system troubleshooting and issue resolution
Participate in process improvement initiatives

Requirements:

3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
CPA designation or progress toward designation is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations
Experience preparing financial statements and leading month-end/year-end close processes
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
