Robert Half is exclusively partnered with a well-established organization in Newmarket that is looking to hire a Senior Systems Administrator to lead infrastructure, security, and IT operations across the business.
This is a highly visible role that combines hands-on technical leadership with stakeholder engagement, vendor management, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will play a key role in modernizing the environment while helping the organization move further toward a cloud-first future.
What You'll Be Working On
This is not a traditional "keep the lights on" Systems Administrator position. The goal is to bring in someone who can take ownership of infrastructure operations, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and become the go-to infrastructure resource for the business.
Responsibilities include:
- Owning day-to-day infrastructure and operational support
- Managing and mentoring the Network Administrator
- Partnering with the MSP and managing the vendor relationship
- Responding to issues affecting internal users and external clients
- Identifying opportunities for infrastructure improvements and modernization
- Making security recommendations and driving best practices
- Supporting disaster recovery, redundancy, and business continuity initiatives
- Leading and contributing to infrastructure-related projects
- Acting as a trusted technology advisor to leadership and business stakeholders
This role offers significant autonomy and influence, with the objective of allowing the VP, IT to transition away from day-to-day operational IT responsibilities.

What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of infrastructure, systems administration, or IT operations experience
- Strong Microsoft infrastructure expertise
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments
- Network, security, and systems administration experience
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing vendors or MSP relationships
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Comfortable working directly with clients and senior leadership
- A passion for technology and continuous improvement
- Automation mindset with PowerShell or similar scripting experience
