Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting

Overview:
Our client, a well established and growing organization in the GTA, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Finance and Accounting team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a public practice CPA to transition into an industry setting, applying their technical expertise to support financial reporting, project accounting, and process improvements.
What you will achieve in this role:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting working papers for corporate and project entities.
- Perform account reconciliations and support project accounting functions, including project cost tracking and budget analysis.
- Develop variance analysis and management reports, providing insights on financial drivers and trends.
- Assist with cash flow reporting, forecasting, and lender/partner reporting packages.
- Coordinate with external auditors, prepare year-end files, and respond to audit inquiries.
- Prepare corporate income tax (T2) returns and supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with tax regulations such as HST and rebates.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, internal controls, and reporting systems.
- Lead and support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses for senior leadership.
What you will bring to this role:
- CPA designation obtained through public practice (CA legacy route or CPA).
- 3 to 5 years of recent experience in a public accounting firm or private enterprise, preferably in owner-managed businesses.
- Experience preparing corporate income tax (T2) returns and supporting schedules.
- Hands-on experience with compilation, review, or audit engagement files, including full working paper documentation.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, particularly ASPE.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and a solid aptitude for systems.
- Highly organized, self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting confidently with senior leaders.
- Industry exposure to real estate, construction, or land development is an asset.
- Familiarity with HST, tax software (e.g., TaxPrep, Profile), Caseware, ERP systems related to construction or real estate, and multi-entity structures is preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with intercompany accounting processes and reporting systems is advantageous.
