The Role
Reporting to the Crew Supervisor, the Labourer is a key member of the field team responsible for supporting construction activities across all phases of ROHL projects. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that requires a strong work ethic, safety focus, and the ability to work effectively as part of a fast-moving utility and telecommunications construction crew.
Labourers are an essential part of the crew, helping keep projects safe, efficient, and moving forward. You’ll support site preparation, material handling, equipment operations, traffic control, and day-to-day construction activities while working as part of a hands-on field team.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Equipment Support
- Load, unload, move, and organize tools, equipment, and materials safely.
- Assist operators with spotting, signaling, and safe equipment movement.
- Support grading, excavation, site preparation, shoveling, raking, leveling, and cleanup.
- Operate small tools and equipment, including tampers, pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and skid steers when qualified.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
Traffic & Worksite Operations
- Set up and maintain cones, barricades, signage, and other traffic control devices.
- Direct traffic when required to help protect crews, the public, and equipment.
- Support daily site setup, mobilization, and demobilization.
Safety & Teamwork
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Participate in daily tailboards, safety meetings, and site inspections.
- Work closely with supervisors and the Safety Department to maintain a safe worksite.
- Be reliable, prepared, and comfortable working outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
- Take direction, work well with others, and demonstrate professionalism and accountability with coworkers, clients, and the public.
What you Bring
- Construction, utility, telecommunications, or civil experience is an asset.
- Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and small equipment; skid steer experience is an asset.
- Strong safety mindset and commitment to following safe work practices.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Dependable team player who takes direction well and works effectively with crews and operators.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliable attendance.
- Flexible to work overtime, extended hours, and travel as project needs require.
- Able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment.

Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. May require overtime or working evenings or weekends. Occasional travel may be required.
