Original job description

Required Skills, Experience, & Abilities

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrable experience as a Full-Stack Developer transitioning into a Forward Deployed Engineer-style, customer-facing delivery role.
Expert-level proficiency in Java, including Core Java, Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices architecture, and REST/gRPC APIs, and/or strong production experience in Python 3.x, including FastAPI, Flask/Django, Pandas/NumPy, and Pydantic.
Strong object-oriented design and ability to work across Java and Python codebases or rapidly ramp up on the second language.
Hands-on experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Tekton/OpenShift Pipelines and Jenkins.
Strong database expertise across Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB, including schema design, data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Demonstrated DevOps experience with Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and reliable cloud deployment on at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience building scalable, resilient full-stack applications, including working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and basic frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
Strong API and integration experience with REST, messaging/streaming technologies such as Kafka, and third-party system integration.
Knowledge of secure coding practices, auditability, enterprise security controls, and regulatory compliance for financial data.
Excellent communication, technical writing, stakeholder management, and business-facing skills; comfortable communicating architecture and technical decisions to engineering and non-technical audiences.
High agency, ownership mindset, strong business acumen, and comfort operating with ambiguity in fast-paced client-facing environments.

Desired Skills, Experience, & Abilities

Fintech, Capital Markets, or Spread Products domain knowledge, particularly Financing and Securitization, including ABS and MBS.
Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Consultant embedded within financial institutions.
Monitoring and observability experience with Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk, or similar tools.
Experience with event-driven architectures.
Python-based data science or quantitative tooling, including Jupyter and scikit-learn, for analytics, pricing, or risk use cases.
Experience using Python for quantitative analytics, pricing models, or ML-driven risk tooling alongside a Java-based production stack.
Scripting and automation experience combining Java and Python within the same delivery pipeline.

Job Overview

Seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer with deep Java and Python expertise to work directly with Fintech clients in the Spread Products space. This is a hybrid engineering and customer-facing role focused on architecting, building, deploying, and hardening production-grade solutions in close collaboration with client trading, risk, and operations teams.

The role requires an experienced Full-Stack or Backend Architect who can translate complex and ambiguous business requirements into working software, make effective tradeoffs between scope, speed, and quality, and serve as the technical face of the engineering organization with customers. Java and Python should be applied according to the needs of each use case, including enterprise applications, data analytics, pricing and risk calculations, automation, and rapid prototyping.

Success requires ownership of the complete technical delivery lifecycle, from discovery and scoping through production readiness, while ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, auditable, and compliant. The engineer will also establish feedback loops with stakeholders, understand business outcomes and ROI/AI impact, and demonstrate that delivered systems can operate reliably in production without unexpected behavior.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary technical point of contact embedded with client teams, gathering requirements, scoping solutions, and defining technical sequencing.
Own discovery and scoping engagements by translating ambiguous business requirements into clear technical specifications and delivery plans.
Rapidly prototype and deliver production-ready applications using Java or Python based on the use case, addressing trading, risk, and operational problems.
Architect and build scalable, resilient full-stack applications using Java/Spring Boot/Spring Framework/microservices and/or Python/FastAPI/Flask for enterprise financial workflows.
Use Python for rapid prototyping, data analytics, pricing and risk calculations, and automation where appropriate.
Apply strong data modeling and query optimization across Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB.
Build solutions with enterprise-grade security, auditability, and regulatory compliance across Java and Python codebases.
Design, build, and maintain Tekton/OpenShift Pipelines and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable, and auditable deployments.
Deploy and manage containerized workloads on OpenShift/Kubernetes and apply infrastructure-as-code practices for reliable, repeatable cloud deployments.
Own production readiness, including monitoring, alerting, rollback strategies, and incident response support.
Balance scope, delivery speed, and quality while meeting aggressive client timelines without compromising system integrity.
Demonstrate business acumen by understanding enterprise workflows, stakeholder needs, ROI/AI impact, and business outcomes while establishing continuous product feedback loops.
Produce clear technical documentation and communicate complex architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Deliver working, production-grade software directly into client financial workflows within tight delivery windows.
Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders as both a technical architect and business-savvy partner.
Continuously improve delivery through tight feedback loops between engineering output and business outcomes.
**Only those lawfully authorized to work in the designated country associated with the position will be considered.**
**Please note that all Position start dates and duration are estimates and may be reduced or lengthened based upon a client’s business needs and requirements.**
