Position Summary
Support the Engineering team with the design and development of vehicle components, including custom and aftermarket parts used for vehicle modification and tuning applications. The role also supports CAD drawing updates, 3D models, Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change documentation, prototype and production records, testing, and coordination with internal teams. This entry-level position is suitable for a recent graduate or junior designer with relevant automotive design experience gained through employment, co-op placements, academic projects, a design portfolio, or personal automotive projects.
Shifts: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Responsibilities
- Support Mechanical Engineers and Designers with day-to-day engineering activities.
- Create and revise 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for vehicle components, custom parts, and aftermarket or tuning applications.
- Reverse-engineer existing vehicle components by measuring parts and mounting points and translating measurements, sketches, or scan data into accurate CAD models and drawings.
- Support fitment checks, prototyping, testing, and design revisions to confirm that parts can be manufactured, assembled, and installed correctly.
- Assist with the preparation, revision, and organization of CAD drawings and technical documentation.
- Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Assist with engineering change requests and document control.
- Coordinate with production, procurement, and quality teams regarding engineering requirements.
- Track and organize prototype and production-related documentation.
- Support testing, validation, and implementation of new vehicle components and systems.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and engineering records.
- Assist with inventory and material tracking related to engineering projects.
- Ensure drawings and documentation are updated and stored according to company standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within engineering and related processes.
- Follow established company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Design, Drafting, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant education or experience may be considered.
- Entry-level of relevant engineering, technical, design, or manufacturing support experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change documentation, and document control is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized records in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Quality teams.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Compensation/Pay
$55,000 - $65,000 per annum
