Department/Unit/Program Description
The Environmental Services Department strives to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The duties of the department are carried out to the highest possible standard in accordance with infection prevention and control best practices.
Position Summary
The Environmental Services Department is currently seeking a temporary part-time Environmental Services I team member.
Effective Date: November 16, 2026
Ending on or before Date: August 22, 2027
Essential Qualifications
Must be available for days, evenings, and nights, Monday through Sunday, with weekend rotation. Shifts and hours may vary according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public
- Demonstrated high level of communication, organizational and time management skills
- Must have, or be willing to successfully complete training in a number of required competencies including CPI, WHMIS, etc.
- Must be physically fit as the job involves heavy lifting, pushing, pulling and periods of bending/stooping
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job as per the current Physical Demands Analysis
- Previous housekeeping/grounds keeping experience in a health care setting or similar institution

Responsibilities
Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff in accordance with infection prevention and control practices. Perform environmental services duties while meeting the role’s physical demands and working varied shifts.
Requirements
A Grade 12 education or equivalent is required, along with effective communication and cooperation with staff, patients, and the public, and strong organizational and time-management skills. Candidates must be physically able to meet the job’s demands and have or be willing to complete required training, including CPI and WHMIS; healthcare or institutional housekeeping or groundskeeping experience is preferred.
