Test Automation Co-op - XPression - 8 month Co-op

WHERE YOU'LL BE WORKING

Ross Video is a world leader in high-definition video production equipment, designed and manufactured in Canada and sold world-wide. Our products are used by a who's who of the global entertainment industry, including top broadcast networks like NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox in the USA; Rogers, CTV and the CBC in Canada; Al Jazeera, BBC, and others around the world. We are #1 in providing behind-the-scenes production gear used in sports stadiums across the MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL. Our equipment has been used extensively at the recent Olympic games. Our systems are used by top musical acts including Springsteen, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift to name a few. Top webcasters like Revision 3, Everyday Astronaut, and MLB.com use Ross. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Reporting to the Product Verification Manager, the successful candidate will develop and execute automated test software using various test tools and scripting languages. You will work closely with the automation developers, product software developers, and product verification specialists on the XPression product. If you have watched live sport events, late night talk shows, entertainment, or news, chances are you have seen XPression in action. The XPression line of real-time motion graphics systems, clip servers, workflow tools, and purpose-built software applications deliver much of the on-screen graphics you see on your television, stadium scoreboard, live streams over the internet, and more.

This position is hybrid with the occasional on-site day located at our Ottawa Campus at Auriga Dr, Nepean. Our pay rates range from $24 - $35 per hour, based on experience. Please note that this is an 8 month co-op opportunity.

WHAT YOU KNOW

Currently an upper-level student (3 rd /4 th /5 th year) enrolled in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at the Intermediate level with co-op option. Academic performance must meet NSERC requirements (B average or above).
Programming experience in Windows environment.
Use of the following for test automation are considered assets: JScript, Java, Visual Basic, Python, Delphi, and scripting languages.
Experience with HTML5 web services is considered an asset.
Experience with Automated Test Tools (TestComplete, Robot Framework, and Jenkins) are considered assets.
Programming experience with graphics engines like Unreal and Unity, or non-linear video editing software like Adobe After Effects, are considered assets.
Experience with SQL-based databases, ideally any of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server, is considered beneficial.
Experience with AI and AI tools (ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot, etc) is considered beneficial.
Previous experience with video equipment manufacturers in the Broadcast industry is considered beneficial.
Previous experience with software test processes (sanity, regression, functional testing, stress testing etc) is considered beneficial.
