MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical post-secondary school diploma/degree
- 2+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment, including coordinating work with other skilled trade members and using a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system)
- Multitasking skills for coordinating and following up on simultaneous priorities
- Ability to work in an industrial production environment (including hot/humid areas) around chemicals, heavy machinery, and moving equipment
- Ability to work overtime as needed to provide time-critical support
AVERAGE DAY AS OUR MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
This role drives daily productivity and improved efficiency by ensuring equipment issues are quickly and appropriately dealt with. Your day starts by reviewing shift summaries and downtime database entries to identify performance problems and coordinate timely repairs. You'll coordinate with skilled trade workers and the production team to troubleshoot mechanical problems, complete repairs, and minimize equipment downtime. This involves generating work orders, scheduling activities, sourcing components, and following up with individuals to ensure the work is appropriately completed. Our Maintenance Supervisor also handles administrative duties for the skilled trade workers, including coordinating shift changes, scheduling extra shifts, answering payroll questions, and booking vacation time.
You'll attend weekly maintenance meetings (and production meetings as needed), manage the lockout lock system, and coordinate vendor responsibilities (bulk waste, yard maintenance, snow removal, etc.). Safety is a top priority, and you'll diligently track safety-related work orders to ensure hazards are resolved and building repairs are completed. You'll serve as a JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) member, participate in 5S and Lean activities, follow through with Red Tag Events, and assist with shutdown planning as needed. Additional responsibilities include supporting budget planning, regularly inspecting/repairing fire alarms, monitoring inventory, and serving as a backup for the equipment PM system administrator.
