The Key Account Executive - Canada is accountable for protecting, deepening and expanding a portfolio of existing Canadian client relationships across industries. The role develops executive relationships, translates client priorities into coordinated account strategies, and connects clients with the breadth of RSM Canada assurance, tax and consulting capabilities. Working in close partnership with engagement leaders and Canadian industry and service specialists, the Key Account Executive orchestrates a consistent client experience, identifies appropriate cross-service opportunities, supports retention and profitable growth, and brings relevant Canadian market, regulatory and business insights to each relationship.

Responsibilities

Strategic account leadership and planning

Develop and maintain account plans for assigned Canadian key accounts, including client priorities, relationship maps, service footprint, retention risks, whitespace opportunities and coordinated actions.
Partner with client service leaders to establish account objectives, governance, meeting cadence and measures of progress that support the overall client relationship.
Lead periodic internal account reviews with assurance, tax, consulting and industry specialists to align on client needs, opportunities, delivery considerations and next steps.
Coordinate national and cross-border resources where client operations or priorities extend beyond Canada, while keeping Canadian relationship ownership and client context clear.

Client relationship management and retention

Serve as a senior relationship connector for assigned accounts and build trusted relationships with executives and key stakeholders across functions, business units and Canadian locations.
Maintain a disciplined client-contact cadence, including executive check-ins and structured business reviews, to understand priorities, assess relationship health and reinforce value delivered.
Anticipate renewal, satisfaction or service concerns; coordinate timely interventions with engagement and service leaders and follow through on agreed actions.
Promote client advocacy, referrals and appropriate thought-leadership participation in collaboration with client service and marketing teams.

Account growth and cross-service expansion

Identify, qualify and advance opportunities within existing accounts by connecting business issues to relevant RSM Canada assurance, business tax, financial consulting, managed services, management consulting, risk consulting, sustainability, transaction advisory, private company and public company services.
Create client-specific value propositions and coordinate discovery, solution design, proposal development and executive presentations with the appropriate service and industry professionals.
Expand relationships responsibly by prioritizing client need, service fit, independence requirements, delivery capacity and long-term relationship value.
Maintain a current opportunity pipeline and communicate forecast assumptions, dependencies, risks and next actions.

Industry and Canadian market insight

Develop working knowledge of the sectors represented in the assigned portfolio and bring relevant Canadian economic, operational, tax, regulatory, technology and workforce considerations into account conversations.
Use RSM Canada industry and service insights to prepare tailored points of view for clients across sectors such as financial services, asset management, automotive, business services, construction, consumer goods, energy, food and beverage, government and public sector, health care, industrials, insurance, life sciences, professional services, real estate, retail and technology, media and telecommunications.
Engage Canadian industry leaders to validate account hypotheses, shape sector-relevant solutions and share market intelligence.

Internal orchestration and client experience

Create clear roles, communication protocols and follow-up accountability across the account team so the client experiences RSM as coordinated and easy to work with.
Facilitate internal preparation for significant client interactions and ensure that client context, objectives and decision criteria are understood by participating teams.
Partner with engagement leaders to monitor commitments, client feedback and service outcomes, escalating material concerns through appropriate leadership channels.
Operate in accordance with firm policies, professional standards, independence requirements, confidentiality obligations and applicable Canadian legal and regulatory considerations.

CRM, forecasting and accountability

Maintain timely and accurate CRM records for contacts, relationship activity, account plans, opportunities, forecasts and agreed follow-up actions.
Prepare concise monthly and quarterly portfolio updates covering retention outlook, relationship health, pipeline movement, wins, risks and leadership support required.
Use agreed portfolio measures to assess progress, including retention, revenue growth, relationship depth, cross-service participation, forecast quality and client feedback.
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, marketing or a related discipline OR progressive. relevant past sales experience. An advanced degree or relevant professional designation is a plus.
7+ years of progressive strategic account management, client development or consultative sales experience in professional services, accounting, consulting or complex business-to-business services.
Demonstrated experience managing and growing existing enterprise or middle-market client relationships across multiple industries.
Proven success building executive relationships, coordinating matrixed teams and advancing complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities.
Working knowledge of a broad professional-services portfolio and the judgment to involve the right assurance, tax and consulting specialists at the right time.
Strong strategic account planning, opportunity qualification, relationship mapping, pipeline management and forecasting capabilities.
Executive-level communication, facilitation, presentation, negotiation and business-writing skills in English;
Proficiency with CRM, Microsoft 365 and business intelligence tools, with the ability to turn account information into clear actions and decisions.
Ability to understand Canadian market and sector developments and translate them into relevant client conversations without overstepping technical subject-matter roles.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Canadian organizations and business issues; experience supporting clients with cross-border or multinational operations is preferred.
Experience with private and/or public company clients is preferred.
French-language capability is an asset where relevant to the portfolio.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $154,000 - $249,500

Individuals selected for this role may be eligible for sales commissions and a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
