About RT Prime
RT Prime helps original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) develop and source dependable custom parts and assemblies. Our capabilities include engineering design and new product introduction (NPI), CNC machining, metal fabrication, die casting, injection molding, sewing and upholstery, and sub-assembly, supported by our teams in Canada and China.
We build long-term customer relationships through clear communication, practical solutions, and reliable execution.
The opportunity
Do you enjoy opening doors, meeting customers, and turning opportunities into new business?
We are looking for a proactive, dependable sales professional to grow our OEM customer base throughout Greater Vancouver. You will identify prospects, connect with decision-makers, understand their sourcing needs, and work with our team to win new business.
You will be based at our Burnaby office, working alongside our local team and reporting to our VP of Business Development. Our in-house technical sales and operations specialists provide technical expertise, estimating, and quotation support. We will train you on RT Prime’s capabilities and services.
Your primary focus will be winning new customers and developing new program opportunities with existing customers. You will proactively generate sales activity, build a qualified pipeline, and advance opportunities through to confirmed sales orders, working toward agreed activity, pipeline, and sales bookings targets. You will have the independence to organize your activities, backed by a team that values collaboration and shared success.
What you will do
- Identify and approach OEM and manufacturing customers that fit RT Prime’s capabilities.
- Generate opportunities through direct outreach, customer visits, referrals, networking, and industry events.
- Build relationships with business owners and purchasing, engineering, and operations decision-makers.
- Understand customers’ sourcing challenges, supplier needs, upcoming projects, and purchasing timelines.
- Qualify opportunities based on customer fit, technical requirements, expected volumes, decision-making processes, purchasing timelines, and commercial potential.
- Present RT Prime’s capabilities clearly, explain how our services address customer needs, and connect customers with the right internal specialists.
- Own the commercial follow-through on opportunities: coordinate proposals with technical sales, address customer questions, negotiate within approved guidelines, and secure confirmed purchase orders.
- Exercise sound commercial judgment when pursuing opportunities and discussing pricing, delivery, and customer expectations, working within approved guidelines.
- Follow RT Prime’s documented sales process from the first introduction through the purchasing decision, then coordinate a smooth handoff of customer requirements and commercial commitments to account management and operations.
- Maintain accurate records in CRM, including contacts, opportunity values, sales stages, expected close dates, realistic forecasts, and clear next steps.
- Plan your prospecting and customer visits independently, aligned with priorities agreed with the VP of Business Development.
- Share customer feedback and market insights to help the broader team succeed.
What you bring
- Three or more years of B2B sales experience, with demonstrated success in proactively prospecting, building a sales pipeline, and finding and winning new customers.
- Familiarity with industrial or manufacturing customers and how they make purchasing decisions.
- Knowledge of Greater Vancouver’s manufacturing community and an established network of relevant industry contacts, together with the ability to build new relationships beyond your existing network.
- Confidence in initiating conversations, arranging meetings, and following up through longer sales cycles.
- Strong listening, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Initiative and organization: you manage your schedule, honour commitments, and move opportunities forward without daily reminders.
- Mechanical aptitude and curiosity about how products are designed, manufactured, and assembled, with the ability to learn our capabilities and recognize where we can help a customer.
- Integrity and sound judgment: you communicate honestly, make realistic commitments, and involve colleagues when their expertise is needed.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to share information and credit with your team.
- A willingness to learn, apply feedback, and respond constructively to setbacks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using CRM and ERP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.
- The ability to travel regularly to customer sites throughout Greater Vancouver.
- Experience selling manufacturing services, industrial components, or related products is an asset. An engineering degree or detailed technical sales background is not required.
