Director of Studies (Minerals & Metals)
Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA) (Full Relocation Support Provided)
Redefining Study Leadership
Rubisco Advisory has been retained by a tier-one global engineering, consulting, and project delivery firm undergoing substantial, sustained expansion.
This Divisional Study lead is fundamentally different. Serving on the regional leadership team, the Director of Studies will lead a team of talented Study Managers with an active portfolio of studies, build governance frameworks, and set up projects to ensure a seamless transition to capital-efficient execution. This role will have a strong focus on team development and on working alongside leadership and clients.
A key focus will be on how things can be done differently and on incorporating new methodologies. This is an opportunity to leave a lasting footprint: mentoring a growing team of Study Managers, influencing project economics from day one, and serving as the key sponsor in client engagements.
Key Strategic Mandates
- Oversee study delivery across the Toronto office, instilling stage-gate frameworks, cost/schedule baseline integrity, and commercial alignment across PFS and FS programmes.
- Ensure early-stage designs and feasibility outputs are practical, constructible, and commercially executable.
- Directly lead, mentor, and expand an established team of Study Managers and project engineering talent.
- Represent the business at sponsor meetings, board-level client reviews, and broader industry forums across Canada.
Profile Requirements
- 15+ years of mining industry experience with a track record of managing and delivering multidisciplinary studies (PFS, FS, NI 43-101-compliant reports).
- Demonstrated background leading teams within an engineering consulting environment, or senior owner-side experience managing major consulting study partners.
- Relevant exposure across precious and base metals (copper, gold, nickel), with a sound understanding of Canadian operating environments.
- Relevant engineering degree (Mining, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical); P.Eng. qualification and QP eligibility under NI 43-101 are highly regarded.
