Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI) is an engineering consulting firm specializing in the science of buildings and structures. We lead integrated design incorporating sustainability, environmental engineering, wind engineering, microclimate, ventilation, noise, acoustics and vibration. We are a firm of 750+ enthusiastic people in fifteen countries, bringing our wide range of experience and skills together to develop a better, holistic design for our clients.
RWDI’s Guelph office is currently accepting applications from undergraduate, or master’s students enrolled in Civil, Structural, Wind, or Mechanical Engineering for a full-time,
8-month co-op term beginning in
January 2027.
Subject to approval and business needs at that time, there may also be an opportunity for a future 8- to 16-month co-op term beginning in September 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Project planning/co-ordination: collects and deciphers technical information required for projects, ensures set plan is followed through life of study, and updates project team regularly on the progress of the project, following appropriate QA/QC procedures.
- Data acquisition: facilitates the acquisition of data from the appropriate testing department (e.g. wind tunnel) or assessment technique (e.g. computer model), and provides necessary information and technical support to properly complete project
- Data analysis: assists with required data reduction, analysis, interpretation, correction and document presentation
- Reporting: assists with technical reports that present the methodology, results and recommendation of projects
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background/Qualifications Of a Candidate
- Undergraduate or master’s students enrolled in Civil, Structural, Wind, or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a specialization or academic focus in structures
- Excellent analytical abilities
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills
- The ability to work on many tasks at once
- Must be accurate in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed testing, analysis, design and computational methods
