This primarily remote role will focus on reviewing funding claims, supporting documentation, program information, and financial data to ensure accuracy, accountability, compliance, and integrity.
The successful candidate will assess information against legislation, policies, procedures, funding agreements, and program requirements. The role requires strong Excel and Outlook skills, accurate data processing, compliance-review experience, financial analysis, stakeholder communication, business writing, documentation, and the ability to manage high volumes of information.

Key responsibilities
Funding claims and compliance reviews
- Review funding claims and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Assess operator and program information against applicable requirements, policies, procedures, guidelines, and funding agreements.
- Interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures, program criteria, and governance requirements.
- Validate information received from operators and stakeholders using multiple sources and supporting documents.
- Conduct compliance reviews, monitoring activities, quality-assurance reviews, and verification activities.
- Participate in risk-based review, monitoring, assessment, and audit-related activities.
- Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, missing information, unsupported claims, and potential compliance concerns.
- Escalate complex, high-risk, or unresolved issues appropriately.
Data and financial analysis
- Analyze financial, operational, and program information.
- Review large volumes of information and identify trends, anomalies, inconsistencies, and areas requiring further investigation.
- Calculate adjustments, recoveries, overpayments, corrections, or other financial impacts.
- Apply formulas and perform calculations using Microsoft Excel.
- Review financial information for accuracy, completeness, reliability, and consistency.
- Support financial reporting and ensure records align with program requirements.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
Documentation and records management
- Prepare clear and accurate correspondence, summaries, reports, findings, recommendations, and review documentation.
- Maintain accurate electronic files, working papers, case records, review notes, and supporting evidence.
- Document analysis, decisions, calculations, findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
- Ensure records are organized, complete, traceable, and maintained according to applicable standards.
- Use case-management systems, databases, records-management systems, and other business applications.
- Support the preparation of audit trails and documentation required for accountability and compliance.
Stakeholder communication
- Communicate professionally with operators, program stakeholders, clients, and internal teams.
- Explain documentation requirements, review findings, discrepancies, calculations, and outcomes clearly.
- Request additional information or clarification when supporting documentation is incomplete or inconsistent.
- Support resolution of discrepancies and respond to stakeholder questions.

Process improvement and workload management
- Identify recurring issues, trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement.

- At least one year of experience with business writing, communication, and documentation.
- At least three years of experience working in government or a highly regulated industry with complex policy and governance requirements.
- At least three years of experience working with clients or stakeholders to identify, gather, document, and analyze business data and process requirements.
- Experience conducting compliance reviews, monitoring activities, quality-assurance reviews, payment verification, or similar verification activities.
- Experience identifying discrepancies and assessing information from multiple sources.
- Experience calculating recoveries, adjustments, overpayments, or other financial impacts.

- At least one year of experience working with Alberta child care grant-funding programs.
- Experience with benefits administration, grants administration, payment processing, or program administration.
- Experience with government-funded programs and public-sector compliance requirements.
- Experience with audit support, financial controls, overpayment recovery, and risk-based monitoring.
- Experience identifying process improvements in high-volume processing environments.
