Education plays an important role in supporting Alberta's safety codes system. Through relevant, accessible, and high-quality learning experiences, we support Safety Codes Officers, Master Electricians, and Petroleum Tank Installers and Removers in meeting certification requirements and developing throughout their careers.

We're looking for a Manager, Education Excellence who brings together expertise in education and a people-focused approach to leadership. This role provides leadership to a team of education professionals, enabling them to deliver high-quality learning experiences and continually strengthen education services that support Alberta's safety codes system.

About the Role

This role leads the team responsible for education programs that support certification and professional development across Alberta's safety codes system. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Certification & Education, you'll provide leadership and direction to a team of education professionals while ensuring education remains aligned with learner needs, certification requirements, and organizational priorities.

Drawing on your expertise in adult learning, curriculum development, and program leadership, you'll help guide education strategy, support sound decisions, and create the conditions for the team to deliver meaningful learning experiences and outcomes. Success in this role comes from combining educational expertise with a people-focused approach to leadership, enabling others to do their best work while continuously improving education as a service.

How This Role Supports the Council

Lead and enable a high-performing team: Create belonging and clarity, build capability, and empower education professionals to deliver high-quality programs and services that support learners across Alberta.
Guide education priorities: Use learner needs, certification requirements, stakeholder insights, and evidence to focus effort and investment where it can create the greatest value.
Support meaningful learning experiences: Ensure education remains relevant, accessible, technically sound, and grounded in effective adult learning and instructional design practices.
Improve education as a service: Use learner feedback, program performance information, and service insights to evaluate effectiveness, prioritize improvements, and strengthen the value education creates.
Build partnerships that expand impact: Collaborate with educational institutions, industry partners, subject matter experts, and internal teams to support strong education outcomes across the safety codes system.

What You’ll Do

People and Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Education Excellence team by creating belonging and clarity, building capability, supporting growth, and fostering a culture of accountability, trust, and continuous learning. Translate organizational priorities into meaningful outcomes and ensure the team has the resources, support, and direction needed to succeed.
Education Strategy and Program Leadership: Guide education priorities using learner needs, certification requirements, stakeholder insights, and evidence. Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of education programs that are relevant, accessible, and effective.
Learner Experience and Outcomes: Use learner feedback, participation trends, assessment results, and other evidence to evaluate experiences, strengthen programs, and improve outcomes.
Quality and Partnerships: Establish expectations for educational quality and maintain productive relationships with educational institutions, external providers, subject matter experts, industry stakeholders, and internal teams.
Continuous Improvement and Resource Leadership: Steward resources responsibly, remove barriers, and support innovation, ensuring Education Excellence continues to evolve in response to learner and system needs. Identify opportunities, prioritize improvements, and strengthen the value education creates for learners and stakeholders.

What You Bring

Education and Experience

Post-secondary education in education, adult education, instructional design, curriculum development, learning and development, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Progressive professional experience, typically five or more years, in education, training, curriculum development, learning program management, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing people and achieving outcomes through others.
Experience designing, implementing, overseeing, or evaluating education and training programs, including the application of adult learning and instructional design principles.
Experience using learner insights, assessment results, program information, and other evidence to improve programs or services and manage multiple priorities, projects, or resources.

Your expertise gives you the credibility to ask thoughtful questions, guide decisions, and support education professionals in doing their best work.
