Original job description

HR Generalist

Location: Montreal, Canada

About Us:

Sahah Naturals is a fast-growing Montreal-based CPG company with a portfolio of better-for-you food and beverage brands, sold across Canada, the US and the UK. We're looking for an HR Generalist to help build the team behind our next stage of growth.

Job Overview

The HR Generalist owns human resources at Sahah Naturals from end to end. You will be the go-to person for our office, warehouse and production teams, running recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policies and compliance with Quebec employment standards. This is a hands-on, independent role for someone who wants to build HR at a growing company, not just maintain it.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Own and update the Employee Handbook and HR policies, and make sure employees understand them.
  • Ensure compliance with Quebec labour standards, CNESST health and safety requirements, and pay equity obligations.
  • Track vacation, sick days and leaves of absence, and keep records current.
  • Maintain complete, confidential employee files and HR records.
  • Manage asset tracking for employee-issued equipment.
  • Work with Finance on payroll inputs, new hires, changes and terminations.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Run full-cycle recruitment: job descriptions, postings, screening, interviews, references and offers.
  • Manage relationships and fees with external recruiting and staffing agencies.
  • Build a candidate pipeline for future roles, including warehouse and production positions.
  • Onboard new employees: paperwork, training schedules and orientation.
  • Offboard departing employees: exit interviews, asset collection and access removal.

Employee Relations

  • Be the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns across office, warehouse and production.
  • Advise managers on performance issues, coaching and progressive discipline, and document each step.
  • Investigate and resolve workplace conflicts and complaints fairly and confidentially.

Performance & Engagement

  • Run the annual and quarterly employee review cycle and keep it on schedule.
  • Plan company events, celebrations, milestone anniversaries and the annual volunteer day.
  • Give HR updates in weekly team meetings and support quarterly and annual planning meetings.

Employer Branding

  • Manage employer brand content, including LinkedIn posts on culture, recognition and open roles.

What we’re looking for:

We're looking for an HR Generalist who can run HR independently and wants to be at the heart of a growing company. You are organized, discreet and comfortable on a production floor as much as in an office. You take ownership, follow through, and raise issues early.

  • Qualifications:
    • Experience: 3–5 years in a generalist HR role, ideally in manufacturing, warehousing or CPG.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree or certificate in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related field. CRHA designation (or working toward it) is an asset.
    • Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of Quebec labour standards, CNESST requirements and pay equity.
    • Languages: Fluent French. Strong English is required, because the role works daily with English-speaking managers and with partners and customers in the US and UK.
    • Technical Skills: HRIS and ATS experience (e.g., ADP, BambooHR, JazzHR), plus comfort with Slack, Asana and Google Workspace.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent judgment, confidentiality and communication, and the ability to manage several priorities at once.

Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Hybrid: 4 Days in Office, 1 Day WFH
