Tasks

Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
Analyze operating costs and other data
Create new recipes
Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods

Responsibilities

Plan menus, develop recipes, prepare and cook meals and specialty dishes, and ensure food quality, including accommodating allergies and dietary requirements. Manage kitchen operations by tracking costs and inventory, supervising and training staff, and coordinating food service for events and special functions.

Requirements

Requires 2 to less than 3 years of experience and an other trades certificate or diploma. The role also calls for a Safe Food Handling certificate, Emergency First Aid and CPR, and the ability to supervise 5–10 people.
