Through collaboration with the client, the Products team, Professional Services team, and our implementation partners, the Solution Engineers (SE) develop thoughtful points-of-view that help our clients connect with their citizens in new ways. This unique perspective creates an opportunity for the SE to interact with the entire citizen lifecycle. The Solution Engineer must have a strong desire to demonstrate their technical, presentation, and persuasive skills related to positioning Salesforce solutions, including the ability to solicit business requirements, develop a technical sales strategy, configure and successfully demonstrate the solutions that address these requirements, and provide business value.

As a Solution Engineer, also known as a "Presales Consultant," "Sales Consultant," "Pre-Sales Engineer," "Sales Engineer," or "SE," you'll be a key player in the sales cycle, delivering thought leadership and owning solutions to enhance our customers' experience. Solution Engineers are mapped to specific territories and their respective Account Executives, but often work across territories when demand and time permit.

You'll collaborate with colleagues, support our sales team, and translate business objectives into compelling recommendations. With your technical and sales skills, you'll present our product offerings, address objections, and inspire confidence in our technology infrastructure.

The Solution Engineer will act as a trusted advisor to our customers while aiding the client's transformational journey.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and lead the entire solution cycle through close collaboration with other teams.
Understand the client’s needs, and establish Salesforce’s product as the best solution that solves unique challenges.
Convey a deep understanding of the client’s industry and technology as it pertains to Salesforce’s solutions.
Develop and deliver innovative custom solutions, and build and present customized points-of-view of Salesforce solutions for key decision-makers to address their needs, showing business value.
Participate in all appropriate product, sales, and procedural training and certifications to acquire and maintain the knowledge vital to be effective in the position.
Attain quarterly and annual objectives assigned by management.
Respond efficiently to RFxs (RFPs, RFIs and ITQs etc…).
Lead the technical side of the sales cycle.
Have a strong desire to grow your career and participate in our internal training programs and mentorship initiatives.
Design and share reusable assets for the broader SE and Sales teams, such as presentations, demos, and videos.

Required Qualifications

Must live in the Greater Toronto Area, as this is where the majority of the clients this role will support are located.
B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
Proven experience leveraging vibe-coding/agentic engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar to rapidly design applications, points-of-view, and/or proof-of-concepts.
5+ years of combined experience working with Canadian public sector organizations and/or Salesforce solutions, currently holding at least one valid Salesforce certification.
5+ years of solution engineering, consultancy, delivery, or practical on-the-job experience that maps to the responsibilities listed above.
Proven oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication and relationship skills (bilingualism in French & English is an asset, but not mandatory).
Proven time management skills in a dynamic team environment.
Ability to work as part of a team to tackle problems in dynamic, energizing environments.
Inquisitive, curious, practical, and passionate about technology and sharing knowledge.
A passion for researching, experimenting, focusing deeply on specific topics, and solving complex problems.
Skilled at explaining ideas clearly and engaging audiences through storytelling.
Willing and able to travel occasionally.
Experience will be evaluated based on alignment with the core competencies for the role (e.g., extracurricular leadership roles, relevant market experience, volunteer work, public sector experience, etc.).
At least one relevant Salesforce certification and consulting experience are required.
