Original job description

We’re Sandbox, a mutual insurance company built on the principles of creating, learning, growing, and having fun doing it. We’ve been around for over a century now, with a focus on one thing:

Delightfully Simple Insurance.

Sandbox is inclusive, engaging, and growing incredibly fast, so working with us is actually exciting! If you’re ready to help shape the future of work through artificial intelligence and innovation, join the Sandbox team!

As our AI Solutions Developer, you'll be Sandbox’s go-to expert for artificial intelligence and intelligent automation. You'll lead the discovery, design, and implementation of AI-powered solutions that improve business processes, enhance customer experiences, and drive innovation across the organization.

WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BUILD WITH US

Well, because Sandbox really is a sandbox, a giant playground for grown-ups who want to laugh, be creative, work dynamically, and take on new opportunities.

On top of our incredible culture and amazing people, we also offer a bunch of awesome perks, like:

Payday Perks: Competitive annual salary
Level Up: Tons of opportunities for professional development, on us
Health & Wellness: Great benefits for you and your family
Vacation Goals: Annual paid vacation time, so you don’t have to put your travel dreams on hold
Best of Both Worlds: A hybrid work program, when applicable
Bonus Days: A paid Earned Day Off (EDO) every three weeks. That’s like 17 extra vacation days a year!
Parking: Free electrified parking at our head office
Community Care: Two paid days a year to volunteer for causes that matter to you (on company time!)
Ride into the Sunset: DC pension plan, and what’s even better, we match 6% of contributions

DIVE IN AND MAKE A SPLASH EVERY DAY BY:

Leading enterprise-wide discovery sessions to identify opportunities for AI-enabled solutions and intelligent automation
Designing scalable AI architectures, including generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), integrations, and automation frameworks
Developing proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and pilot solutions that validate business value and technical feasibility
Serving as Sandbox’s trusted advisor and subject matter expert on artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies
Establishing AI governance practices, standards, and frameworks that promote secure, responsible, and effective AI adoption
Evaluating AI platforms, vendors, and technologies while making recommendations on enterprise investments and strategy
Partnering with business units and technology teams to implement solutions that deliver measurable operational improvements
Leading AI training, coaching, and adoption initiatives that help employees embrace new tools and ways of working
Monitoring emerging trends and identifying innovative opportunities that improve customer experience and organizational performance
Acting as a champion for innovation, continuous improvement, and a delightfully simple insurance experience

WHAT YOU BRING TO SANDBOX:

Education & Credentials: Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analysis, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in solution design, AI, automation, business analysis, or related technology disciplines
AI Expertise: Strong knowledge of generative AI, prompt engineering, intelligent automation, enterprise AI platforms, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of data management, system integration, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and automation platforms
Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect business challenges with practical, scalable technology solutions
Communication Skills: Confidence communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Governance Mindset: Knowledge of privacy, security, responsible AI practices, and technology governance frameworks
Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to guide stakeholders, build consensus, and support organizational change
Innovation & Curiosity: Passion for exploring emerging technologies and finding better ways to work
Culture Add: Positive, collaborative, and committed to building an inclusive and engaging workplace

COME OUT TO PLAY

Serious about innovation? So are we. Apply now and help us shape how artificial intelligence transforms the way we work, serve our customers, and build the future at Sandbox.

We thank all interested candidates; however, only those considered for an interview will be contacted.
