At Sandvik, we offer you a world of opportunities. Our diverse businesses and global network enable you to explore your potential and thrive. We recognize your performance and offer various ways to fuel your growth towards exceptional achievements.

Curious about the mining industry and looking for a hands-on way to start your career? Sandvik is hiring an entry-level Rock Tools Technician in Prince George. You will work with specialized mining tools, learn how they are inspected, maintained and tracked, and gain practical experience with the support of an experienced team. No previous mining experience is required - bring your mechanical aptitude, safety mindset and willingness to learn, and we will help you build the skills for the role.

Your hands-on experience counts. If you enjoy repairing equipment, working on vehicles, building things or figuring out how mechanical parts work, you may already have the foundation we are looking for. Experience from a shop, construction, automotive work, farming, school, volunteering, hobbies or personal projects is welcome.

Ready to turn your practical skills into a career in mining? Apply today and take your first step with Sandvik. This role offers hands-on training, opportunities to grow, competitive start rate, a comprehensive benefits and pension package, and site and travel allowances depending on the assignment.

Inspect, repair and maintain rock tools to defined specifications, with training and support from the team.
Organize and deliver rock tools products to the customer.
Learn to use the Rock Tools Management System to monitor and report on tool performance.
Observe tool condition and help identify wear, damage, improper use or incorrect product selection.
Share observations, questions and improvement ideas with the Supervisor and Sandvik Sales and Service Representatives.
Complete accurate time records, technical reports and failure reports.
Build positive working relationships with the rock tools team and with internal and external customers.
Perform daily and weekly stock counts and help keep the work area organized.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Environmental Health and Safety

We are ethical and compliant, dedicated to health, safety, and sustainability. We put health and safety first!

Adhere to the Sandvik Environmental, Health and Safety Policy.
Attend health and safety related training.
Perform Risk Assessments ("Take Five") prior to each task.
Identify and report hazards.
Work in a safe manner as reasonably practicable.
Wear the required PPE assigned for each location.

What you will bring along

Completion of Secondary School (High school).
Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how tools and equipment work.
Hands-on experience gained through work, school, volunteering, hobbies or personal projects is welcome; previous mining experience is not required.
Comfort using, or willingness to learn how to use, hand tools and basic equipment safely.
Eagerness to learn new skills and develop a career in the mining industry.
A safety-focused, dependable and detail-oriented approach to work.
Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
Flexible and self-motivated, with demonstrated initiative.
Basic ability to use Outlook and Microsoft Office.
A valid driver's licence in good standing is required.
Ability and willingness to work varied shifts, as required.

In return for your passion and drive we will offer you…

Practical, hands-on training and support to help you build confidence and succeed in the role.
A genuine entry point into the mining industry - no previous mining experience required.
The opportunity to learn specialized tools, build valuable skills and grow your career with a global industry leader.
An excellent comprehensive compensation package including a pension plan with matching, competitive health, dental, life and disability benefits, as well as ongoing development and training.

Site and travel allowances may be provided based on the assignment.
The starting hourly rate for this position is [$27.50], with the final offer determined by the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and applicable local market conditions.
