Original job description

Description

Advanced Microsystems Technologies, AMT, is a technology division of Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM), responsible for RF, Microelectronic, Optical components and Integrated Subsystems, providing services from design concept, through prototype design and testing, process development, assembly and test innovation, to volume manufacturing. We are extremely proud to partner with our customers enabling their product through the full product lifecycle. At AMT, you will work on some of the most innovative programs and products that address emerging markets, including optical and RF communication, datacenter connectivity, quantum computing, automotive sensing systems, medical devices and diagnostics and test & measurement systems, to name a few. Come and join us, and be part of a team that challenges you to be your best, where you will be empowered to make a difference and where we are extremely proud of what we deliver, together.  Job Purpose The Test Development Engineer role will be a key contributor in defining, developing, and deploying high quality, automated Functional Test (FT) and System Test solutions for complex electronic devices, with a specialization in RF, Optical, and Pluggable equipment. This role focuses on both software and hardware test development. While you will write robust, scalable test code in Python, C or C++ for RF and optical testing, you will also design test fixtures, requiring foundational knowledge in electronic and mechanical engineering to ensure product quality, performance, and compliance.                Nature of Duties/Responsibilities Define, develop, and execute functional and system-level test solutions for customers' products, encompassing the design of test hardware (fixtures/cables) and test software, with a strong emphasis on Python for automation. Work with R&D and Manufacturing teams to implement test strategies for new product introduction (NPI) and volume manufacturing of RF, Optical, and Pluggable devices. Develop automated test scripts and frameworks to control test equipment, collect data, and generate comprehensive test reports. Expertly perform and implement testing for high-speed digital and high-frequency RF/Optical measurements. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve hardware, software, and measurement issues across test fixtures, automation code, and units under test (UUT). Manage the process for manufacturing test by developing and documenting criteria, justifying exceptions, and ensuring proper implementation in the test flow. Create, verify, and maintain essential test documentation (test plans, test procedures, test setups, debug instructions, training manuals, etc.). Perform Design for Testability (DFT) analysis of customer designs, focusing on access points and test points relevant to functional and system-level testing. Interface and travel to other sites to successfully transfer and sustain test solutions globally. Provide leadership and training to manufacturing test personnel on new test procedures, code automation, test equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.  Education and Experience Relevant Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 5 years of relevant functional test development experience. Mandatory hands-on experience in the development, verification, documentation, and deployment of complex automated Functional Test (FT) solutions - from prototyping/NPI to volume manufacturing. Expert-level proficiency in Python, C, or C++ programming for test automation, including experience with relevant libraries (e.g. PyVISA or similar instrumental control libraries). Proven experience testing electronic devices, specifically: RF (Radio Frequency) devices and associated measurements (e.g. power, spectrum, 5-parameters). Optical devices and measurements (e.g. power, wavelength, insertion loss). Pluggable devices (e.g.SFP/QSFP transceivers, cable assemblies). Demonstrated experience with VNA testing methodologies and equipment. Experience in defining, documenting, and implementing test processes and procedures. Hands-on experience with debugging tools and essential test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and optical test equipment. Working knowledge of test software like National Instruments Labview and TestStand is a definite asset. Experience in failure analysis, diagnostics, and debug to resolve complex functional test problems. Proven analytical problem solving skills and decision making capabilities. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, reporting and presentation skills. OTHER INFORMATION The compensation range for this position is $90,000- $110,000 annually. This position is for an existing vacancy. The hiring process for this position does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI). Sanmina welcomes and encourages applications from persons with disabilities. In accordance with the guidelines established under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
