President

Saskatchewan Mining Association

Location: Regina (Preferred) or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA) is the trusted voice of Saskatchewan’s exploration and mining industry, representing companies that discover, develop, and produce many of the minerals the world relies on. SMA brings together globally respected mining and exploration companies, operating in Saskatchewan, to advance responsible mineral development, influence public policy, and strengthen public understanding of mining’s vital role in society - championing an industry that creates opportunity today while building a stronger future.

SMA works with governments, educators, industry partners, and the public through advocacy, showcase events, public outreach, education initiatives, and member services.

The President of the Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA) provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization. Working closely with the Board, the President develops and executes SMA’s strategic plan, oversees operations, finances, human resources, communications, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, and serves as the Association’s primary spokesperson.

As the ideal candidate, you will bring significant leadership experience in the mining, resource, industry association, or government sectors. You will have demonstrated a proven ability to work with Boards of Directors and governance processes, have a strong understanding of public policy, government relations, and stakeholder engagement. You should also possess knowledge of legislation, regulation, and policy affecting Canada’s mineral sector. You should hold an undergraduate degree in engineering, science, business, political science, public administration or a related field. Post-graduate education or professional credentials are considered an asset.

If you’re interested in applying to this opportunity, please email Lane Miller (Senior Associate, DHR Global) at lmiller@dhrglobal.com with your CV and optionally a Cover Letter expressing your intent to apply.

The Saskatchewan Mining Association represents companies that explore for and operate mines across Treaty Territories 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 and the Homeland of the Métis. We affirm our commitment to respectful and beneficial relations from activity on these lands.

The SMA also works closely with our provincial counterpart associations, with the Mining Association of Canada, the Canadian Nuclear Association, Fertilizer Canada, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the Mining Industry Human Resources Council. Our commitment to ongoing research and education connects us with colleges, universities and research organizations throughout Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Mining Association is committed to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workforce.

Should you need any accommodations for physical or cognitive disabilities during the recruitment process, please notify DHR Global and we will be happy to assist.
