Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Rare Earth Processing Facility has opportunities for Construction Labourers to provide general support for construction of SRC’s Rare Earth Processing Facility. This position is open to candidates with experience in construction or industrial environments. Training will be provided.
Accountabilities
- Provide general assistance to the construction team and tradespeople (i.e. journeyperson Plumbers, Millwrights, Electricians)
- Duties include sorting and organizing materials, painting, assembling and installing a variety of equipment and possible light fabrication
- Assist with installation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment
- Operate equipment, such as telehandlers and overhead cranes
- Organize and clean the facility and construction site
Qualifications
- Entry-level role; previous experience in construction, industrial or hands-on work environments is an asset. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, follow instructions and comply with established safety procedures.
- Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively with the construction team
- Telehandler and crane operation certifications are assets
Skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use common hand tools after instruction
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and provide help where needed
- A team player with effective communication, multitasking and organizational skills
- A self-starter who shows initiative by identifying when routine support is needed, asking questions and taking appropriate action within assigned tasks.
- Ability to work in an ever-changing environment; demonstrates strong attention to detail
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
