Original job description

Company Description Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) administers provincial workers’ compensation insurance, providing guaranteed benefits and programs to workers injured in covered industries. Operating similarly to an insurance organization, WCB protects registered employers from workplace injury lawsuits while funding costs entirely through employer premiums based on injury frequency and severity. The Board ensures wage-loss and related benefits for injured workers who have given up the right to pursue civil action under the historic workers’ compensation compromise. Any employer in a covered industry must register and pay assessed premiums, and any worker in these industries can claim benefits. WCB is also a leader in promoting workplace safety and injury prevention, striving to reduce workplace injuries across Saskatchewan.

Role Description The IT Support Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Regina, SK. This role provides front-line technical support for staff, including diagnosing and resolving issues with desktop computers, peripheral devices, software applications, and network connectivity. The IT Support Specialist responds to help desk tickets, documents incidents and resolutions, and escalates complex issues to senior technical staff when required. Day-to-day tasks include installing and configuring hardware and software, performing routine system checks, and supporting users with secure access, passwords, and basic training on IT tools. The role also contributes to continuous improvement of IT processes, adheres to security and privacy standards, and supports technology initiatives that enhance service delivery to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong Technical Support and Help Desk Support skills, including experience assisting end users in a structured support environment.
Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues efficiently.
Candidates should possess practical experience with Desktop Computers, including setup, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades.
Candidates should possess foundational Information Technology knowledge, including operating systems, basic networking concepts, and security best practices.
Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong customer service orientation, clear verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests, maintain accurate documentation, and follow established procedures and policies.
Experience in a public sector, insurance, or healthcare-related environment and familiarity with ITIL or similar service management frameworks is an asset.
