Original job description

We are inviting applicants who have a strong desire to help others, demonstrating empathy, caring and understanding, to join our team.

WCB:

The Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board is here to support the workers and employers of our province when a workplace injury occurs. We partner with our customers along their journey from recovery to return to work with compassion, empathy, and support to make their experience the very best it can be.

Qualifications:

As an ideal candidate, you will thrive in this environment by possessing the following skills: managing risks, conceptual thinking, communication, return to work, problem-solving, decision making, relationship building and management, and Act Interpretation & Application. In addition to these skills, you will demonstrate a keen sense of teamwork and a passion for delivering an impeccable customer experience. You will be personable, and energetic, and will have a natural ability to thrive in a fast-paced, people-centered environment, serving a diverse group of stakeholders. The Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board is committed to achieving a representative workforce. Members of designated groups (women, aboriginal people, people with disabilities and visible minorities) are encouraged to apply.

Workers’ compensation insurance is a provincial responsibility. Each Canadian province and territory has its own workers’ compensation legislation.

The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) operates like an insurance company. We provide guaranteed benefits and programs to injured workers in industries covered by The Workers’ Compensation Act, 2013 and we protect registered employers from lawsuits when a workplace injury happens.

The Saskatchewan WCB was established in 1911 because of a historic compromise between Saskatchewan workers and employers. Under that compromise, workers injured on the job in covered industries do not have to pay for the benefits they receive or sue their employers to get them. Costs are paid entirely by Saskatchewan employers in covered industries. This is referred to as a no-fault insurance system, also referred to as the compensation system.

The WCB’s vision is to eliminate injuries and restore abilities. This is the fundamental driver of all that we do on behalf of our customers – the workers and employers of the province. The WCB is governed by The Workers’ Compensation Act, 2013.

The case management units are responsible for providing assistance and services to our customers who require additional support to recover from their injuries and return to work. The case management teams consist of six regional teams, the psychological injuries unit and an extended services unit. The case management units are responsible for providing assistance and services to our customers who require additional support to recover from their injuries and return to work. The regional teams unit consists of six case management teams. Each team serves a distinct region within Saskatchewan and includes customer care facilitators, vocational rehabilitation specialists and case management support.
