The Saskatoon Black Business Network (SBBN) is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Part-Time Executive Director.

SBBN is a not-for-profit organization committed to supporting, connecting, and empowering Black entrepreneurs and businesses through mentorship, training, networking, access to resources, partnerships, and business development opportunities.

As SBBN continues to expand its programs, partnerships, funding relationships, and activities across Saskatchewan, the organization is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Executive Director to provide consistent operational leadership and support the implementation of the Board’s strategic priorities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director will provide overall day-to-day operational leadership for SBBN and will work closely with the Board of Directors, Program Manager, staff, consultants, funders, partners, and other stakeholders.

The position is initially expected to require approximately 15–20 hours per week, subject to organizational needs, available funding, and Board approval.

The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors through the Board Chair.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Executive Director will be responsible for:

Providing overall operational leadership and management of SBBN.
Implementing strategic priorities and directions approved by the Board of Directors.
Coordinating and overseeing SBBN programs, projects, events, and initiatives.
Working closely with the Program Manager to ensure effective program delivery, reporting, and accountability.
Coordinating and supervising staff, contractors, consultants, and other operational resources.
Managing grant-funded activities and ensuring compliance with funding agreements and funder requirements.
Monitoring budgets, expenditures, and program finances in collaboration with the appropriate financial personnel.
Ensuring organizational expenses and activities are aligned with approved budgets, policies, and grant requirements.
Supporting the preparation of funder reports, organizational reports, and other required documentation.
Coordinating stakeholder, partner, sponsor, and funder relationships.
Supporting the expansion of SBBN's programs and activities across Saskatchewan.
Identifying operational gaps, risks, and opportunities and providing recommendations to the Board.
Supporting organizational development, partnerships, advocacy, and long-term sustainability.
Ensuring appropriate accountability, documentation, and internal operational processes are maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

Experience in organizational leadership, management, program management, nonprofit leadership, business development, or a related field.
Strong project coordination and administrative skills.
Experience working with grants, funders, budgets, reporting, or financial accountability.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple programs, projects, staff, consultants, and competing priorities.
Strong understanding of governance and the distinction between Board oversight and operational management.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong accountability to the Board.
Experience working with entrepreneurs, businesses, community organizations, or economic development initiatives would be an asset.
Knowledge of Saskatchewan's business, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial ecosystem would be an asset.
Demonstrated commitment to supporting Black entrepreneurs and advancing inclusive economic participation.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

The position is expected to require approximately 15–20 hours per week.

Compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, the approved scope of responsibilities, and SBBN's available financial resources.

TERM

The position will initially be offered on a part-time basis, with continuation subject to performance, organizational requirements, and available funding.
