Company Description Saturn Scale Systems Inc. is a Canadian leader in sales, installation, calibration, repair, rental, and certification of weighing systems across Ontario. The company supports a wide range of applications, from precision laboratory balances to heavy-capacity truck, rail, hopper, and industrial process scales for regulated and production-driven environments. Its portfolio includes advanced weighing and automation solutions, supported by an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accredited Calibration Laboratory and Measurement Canada Authorized Service Provider status. Saturn Scale Systems provides Legal-for-Trade inspections, accredited calibrations, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and compliance support, ensuring reliable performance in critical weighing applications. Experienced technicians deliver complete weighing solutions and support, emphasizing quality, safety, and customer confidence.

Role Description The Field Service Technician (Electronics Technician / PLC Technician apprentice) is a full-time, on-site role based in London, ON. This role involves installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing a variety of weighing systems and related electronic components at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include performing field service visits, diagnosing equipment issues, executing troubleshooting procedures, and documenting service activities in accordance with regulatory and company standards. The technician will support senior technicians, assist with PLC-related work, and ensure accurate, safe operation of laboratory, industrial, and heavy-capacity scales. The role also requires professional customer interaction, clear communication of findings and recommendations, and adherence to safety and quality protocols.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

  • Customer Service skills to communicate clearly, provide professional support, and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • General Maintenance skills for safe use of tools, proper handling of equipment, and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, instrumentation, or PLC systems; technical diploma, trade school training, or apprenticeship in a related field is an asset.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and calibration procedures; attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Ontario for on-site service work.
  • Physical ability to work in industrial environments, including lifting moderate loads and working outdoors or at heights when required.
  • Prior experience in weighing systems, industrial service, or metrology is considered an advantage but not mandatory for motivated apprentices.
