We are hiring a Head Chef at our Park & Tilford Save-On-Foods location in North Vancouver, BC.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
- Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
- Accountable for overall department performance, including financial results, team engagement, and operational standards.
- Engaging and retaining team members through recruitment activities, training, performance management, rewards/recognition, succession planning, administration of the collective agreement, and conflict resolution.
- Partnering with the Corporate Chef to develop and implement new programs, vendor partnerships, and recipes/procedures.
- Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
- Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
- Implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty by using knowledge of the community and food industry trends.
- Maintaining cleanliness standards throughout Kitchen & Restaurant seating area and leading by example.
- Leading product ordering, inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
- Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.
You have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume restaurant in a supervisory role.
- Serving it Right Certification.
- Red Seal Certification is an asset.
- A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
- Experience and/or knowledge with:
- Achieving sales targets and profitability.
- Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
- Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
- Employee/Labour Relations and knowledge of the collective agreement as it relates to scheduling.
- Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Proficiency with computer applications.
