Operating Sector: Construction
Position Title: Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) Manager
Who We Are
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) Manager to join our team.

- Ensure compliance with all geotechnical, engineering, environmental, and safety requirements throughout tunnel construction operations.
- Work closely with Engineering teams to address field issues, design changes, RFIs, and emerging ground conditions.
- Support schedule development and short-interval planning activities to ensure tunnel works remain aligned with project milestones.
- Foster a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed in accordance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide regular updates on tunnel progress, risks, constraints, and mitigation plans.
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in SEM construction, including at a minimum two completed projects utilizing SEM in soft ground.
- Experience working on major infrastructure projects, including transit, rail, subway, transportation, or other large-scale civil construction projects.
